Winter Memories

Greetings,
Looking out the window at the 6 inches of winter sunshine that has graced us so far today, I have begun to ponder the memories of the riding season of 2025 reliving the good, the bad and the ugly.

We had a pretty good season this year with rides all over the place. From our own backyard to distant places such as Maryland, with lots of good memories like having a fun picnic lunch at Nelson Ledges and the Marblehead lighthouse both with new and old members. We had some bad with rain and blistering heat and some ugly with friends and family having wrecks and medical issues. Overall, the season was full of riding and having fun.

Last year at the winter /holiday gathering I made the promise to pay the membership for the person who showed up at the most chapter rides. As it turned out, the winner is Rich Novak. Since Rich had already paid his membership at the membership drive at the dealership, the night of the party I reimbursed Rich his 25 dollars and gave him a great patch to put on his vest or jacket so be sure to ask him to see it!

Appalachian Thunder Rally

The H.O.G. rally in Maryland was a lot of fun with beautiful riding and some really neat history and some solemn history with a stop at the flight 93 memorial. We had a great ride down lead by George Hammond to a now renamed Worst Western hotel. Those of us on the ride will be glad to tell you all about how bad yet good it was. Rooms were clean but some shady stuff went on there and with all the rally goers who stayed there. Hopefully the corporation will get some stuff fixed and the next group through won’t have to deal with it. However, the evenings were spent in a conference room having some fun playing games, drinking adult beverages and just some outstanding camaraderie. We had lots of laughs, a prank or two, some losses and some recoveries. Overall, it was a great trip!

This year we will be traveling to Winchester Virginia and hoping for a lot more great memories. Erika and I went to New York state for a week of riding the back roads near Chautauqua lake, with a side trip to Niagara Falls. that was a long needed just us time. what a beautiful part of the country if you are looking for a place to go that’s not too far away.

The rest of my season was spent in Ohio and I have great memories of those rides as well. I mostly remember the destination not always the ride itself, but lots of memories about things passed on the road like cool houses and roadside attractions. We are both looking forward to some excellent rides coming in the 2026 season.

We the officers and road captains will be planning the ride schedule soon. If you want us to consider a destination, let Robert Moore or myself know what you are thinking and we will see what we can do. from frigid Westlake Ohio I grant you ado until we meet again on the road.
